5th avenue, the fashion Goddess of NYC

5th avenue- this major street in Manhattan is the most expensive street in the world according to Forbes magazine (2008). I mean, how couldn't it be?? This street is loaded by some famous shops (or even buidings)! And this street also is a place where my dreams were made of. You know; it starts graduated from Parsons, having a small gallery between some massive building in there, and making nyc as my hometown ;)

And here's the list of some stores and places in 5th avenue:

How to stop a cab

\

A taxi (or a cab) is the most popular public transportation in NY. This is because you can reach anywhere without walking or taking the subway. And in some tv programs and movies you'll usually find that person who just came to NY once doesn't know how to stop a cab. Soooooooo, these are some way how to stop it and you better read this because I bet you don't want to waste lots of your time standing on the side of the street and nothing stop for you ;)

  1. Stand on the side of the street that has traffic going in the direction you’re headed. If you’re going downtown, stand on the side of the street that has traffic going downtown already. It’s not necessary, but it will save you time and a bit of money as the driver doesn’t have to turn around and go the other way.
  2. Find an ideal spot. Street corners are the best places to hail a cab. If you’ll be hailing cabs in New York City, download the Cabsense App to your smartphone. The CabSense app uses data from the New York Taxi and Limousine Commission to help you find the best nearby street corners to hail an open cab based on the day of the week, the time, and your current location.
  3. Step off the sidewalk and into the street a bit. This makes it easier for drivers to notice you from the rest of the sidewalk traffic. Now don’t step out too far into the street.  You don’t want the NYC Sanitation Department scraping pieces of you off the pavement. But a foot or two off the sidewalk will keep you safe and make you noticeable.
  4. Stick your arm out like you mean it. No time for timidity or half-assing. Lift your arm up and out like a man who knows where he’s going in life.
  5. Don’t whistle or yell “Taxi!” They only do that in the movies, and it makes you look like a tourist.
  6. Look the driver in the eyes. No, you’re not trying to stare him down like a predator stares down prey. Well, maybe a little. Getting eye contact with a driver makes it easier to know if he’s going to stop for you. He’ll usually give you a nod if he’s going to pull over.
AAAAND maybe this whole time you never realized what the lights on the tops of the NY's taxis meant,  here’s a nice graphic showcasing the possible light combos and their meanings regarding availability:

  • Available Cab: Just the center number is lit and nothing else. Hail away!
  • Occupied Cab: None of the lights are lit. This cab is already running a fare, so don’t hail it.
  • Off Duty Cab: Both the center number and the “off duty” lights are lit. Though, sometimes I saw cabs that just had the “off duty” lights on without the center light on and they were still off duty. This cab isn’t picking anybody up. Don’t hail.
So, I guess now you know to find an available taxi and to hail/stop them. And for more information about this you could read from here: http://artofmanliness.com/2011/03/30/how-to-hail-a-taxi-cab-like-a-man/

I know that you wished for this atleast once in your live so one day , somehow, this will happen to your life.
this one is the coolest ever, okay?

Broadway

"New York, where dreams are made of"

Talking about dream and NY, I know 'broadway' just crossed across your mind. It's really famous with its musical theater industry. Lots of Hollywood stars were born from this Avenue. Nick Jonas & Daniel Radcliffe (How To Succeed), Scarlet Johansson (A View From the Bridge), Jude Law (Hamlet) are just a few of celebs that make it to Broadway.
What really great from broadway actresses and actors are they could act and sing or even dance in the same time! This is Nick Jonas from his show 'How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying':

Actually there are loads of videos from broadway shows you could find in youtube. To be honest, I'm more like into 5th ave than broadway because I found that my dreams are made from that ave. So, where your dreams are from? ;)

Statue Of Liberty

Okay, so...who doesn't know about this one? Yes, it's a beautiful statue on Liberty Island. Liberty Statue or  The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy.

The statue was designed by a young French sculptor, Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi.
The statue's face was modeled after his mother's and the story goes that the body was modeled after a prostitute.
The crown of Lady Liberty, as the statue is often affectionately called, has seven spikes, symbolizing the Seven Seas across which liberty should be spread. In her left hand she holds a tablet with the Declaration of Independence and in her right hand a torch, symbolizing Enlightenment.

To get there, we have to take ferry. And maybe, this place is unlike another places in New York like Times Sq, 5th ave. Yes, pretty boring. Because all we can do is just take a picture. BUT, you know, Liberty is really symbolic in NY. So, of course this is one some places that I have to go before I die.

Because it's new york.

I've been dreaming about this city since I was like 8 when all I knew about New York was some cool skyscrapers. And now I'm 16, getting more obsessed. That's why I decided to make one blog about it just for- you know, as a reminder about how big my dream is and how far the steps I've made.
New York,
New York is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York Metropolitan Area, one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world. New York exerts a significant impact upon global commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural capital of the world. The city is also referred to as New York City or the City of New York to distinguish it from the state of New York, of which it is a part.

Yes, fashion. That's actually the main reason why right now I'm so obsessed with New York. Another thing that I love the most from this city is how this city works. Bottom line is, it's wonderfully amazing for me.
